How I work

The No-Shock Promise

No surprise bills, no surprise behaviour. These are the promises I make to every client, each with its condition written right beside it, so you can check me on every one.

The promises

  1. Your domain and your business accounts are in your name.

Domain, analytics, Google Business profile, email: registered to you, or I help you do it. I’m added as a user you can remove anytime. If I host your site on a plan, it runs on my hosting account until you leave, and then it moves to yours.

    See clause 7

  2. You own the code and the design once the build is paid for.

Pay once: on the final payment. Pay monthly: after the 12th payment, or sooner if you pay it off early. It’s handed over in a repository you own, and the contract says so in writing.

    See clause 12

  3. One fixed price, in writing, before I start.

It covers the scope we write down together: the pages, the features and the revision rounds. Anything outside it gets its own quote first.

    See clause 4

  4. Nothing new goes on your bill without your written yes.

Every change outside the scope gets a written quote. An email counts as written. Saying no costs nothing.

    See clause 5

  5. Every running cost listed up front.

Domain, hosting and any paid tools, for the first year and after, at today’s prices. If a provider raises its price, I tell you as soon as I know.

    See clause 6

  6. A reply within one business day.

Monday to Friday, even if the reply is “got it, full answer by Thursday”. If I’m away, my auto-reply says when I’m back. Care Plus clients hear back the same business day.

    See clause 8

  7. You hear about a slipping date before it slips.

In writing, with the reason and a new date. If the date depends on something I’m waiting for from you, I’ll say that too.

    See clause 9

  8. Leave anytime, with everything, and no exit fee.

This covers hosting and care plans. Within 5 business days you get a handover pack: the code, the logins, and notes on how it all works. A pay-monthly build is a 12-month agreement, stated before you sign: leaving early means paying off the rest of the build, but not the Care months you won’t use. That balance is the price of the build, not a fee.

    See clause 15

  9. Care plans are month to month.

Cancel by email. No minimum term, and no year that renews itself. A pay-monthly build includes Care for its 12 months; after that, every plan is month to month.

    See clause 14

  10. Free fixes for my own bugs for 60 days after launch.

A bug is something that doesn’t work the way we agreed. Something new is a change, quoted first. Breakage caused by an outside service, or by edits someone else made, isn’t covered.

    See clause 13

What I ask of you

  • Answer my questions and send approvals when we agreed, or tell me if you can’t.
  • Send your text and images on the dates we set, unless I’m writing the copy for you.
  • Pay invoices on time. On a monthly plan, keep the card on file up to date: if a payment fails and isn’t fixed within 14 days, the site goes offline until it is. Your domain stays yours throughout.

What I don’t promise

  • Google rankings, traffic or sales. They depend on things outside my control, so no one can honestly guarantee them.
  • Unlimited revisions. Every build has a set number of revision rounds; more is quoted.
  • A money-back guarantee. Instead, you approve the design before it’s built, you get revision rounds to get it right, and 60 days of free fixes after launch.

In the contract

Every promise here is a clause in the contract we both sign, and the contract names this page’s version, so the promises you read are the ones you get. Read the contract

Prices, in the same spirit

Every price is published, and fixed in writing before work starts. See pricing

Change log

  • : Leaving a pay-monthly build early now means paying off only the rest of the build, not the remaining Care months. Changed the same day, before any client had signed.
  • : First version.
